The Royal Wedding...

Well, it looks like all the hustle and bustle is over. After all the anticipation and months of preparation for Prince William and Princess Catherine Elizabeth, the stunning exchange of vows in front of the whole world was seemingly matchless.

The tipping off point for me was when Princess Catherine stepped out of her car. Her makeup was flawless beneath the lace-trimmed veil that blew daintily in the wind while her elegant train followed behind.

This event of the century summoned the little girl in me that always dreamed of being a princess. My eyes filled up as I heard the wedding bells sound in preparation for her grand entrance. Millions of onlookers fixed their gaze on the beauty in white. Furthermore, it would almost be a sin not to mention how sweet it was to see her prince nervously awaiting her presence inside the historical Westminster Abby. (Can you tell I’m a total romantic?)

I can’t image the amount of work that must have gone into making every detail perfect. Looking back on my own wedding, I remember help from family and friends to make it all possible. From the invitations to the send off and everything in between, each part needed special attention that brought me such joy as I prepared my heart for my groom. Still, after all was said and done I could not help but want to do it all over again (I’m sure that last line will get mixed reviews. Believe me, I know that’s not everyone’s testimony).

I think the royal wedding strummed my heartstrings, not so much because I’m a girly girl (okay, who am I kidding? The fact that I'm stereotypically girly might have had a tad to do with it), but because it reminded me of what’s to come.

“Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.”- Revelation 19:7

“As a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so your God will rejoice over you.”- Isaiah 62:5

It’s no wonder little girls around the world from generation to generation have dreamed of being a princess bride. That is what God destined us to be and He has set eternity in our hearts, whether we realize it or not (Ecclesiastes 3:11).  So before we start wishing we had the budget for Kate's wedding shoes, let alone her ceremony, lets remember that we too have a chance to be a royal bride. As I watched the event of the century in its entire splendor, I was reminded that it was nothing compared to what’s ahead. This was only an earthly wedding. What’s to come is a heavenly one, literally!

In my excitement, I ready my heart for the true Groom. He is returning for His bride (the church) so that we can spend eternity in glory. Talk about happily ever after!!

Looking Forward,

Monique Zackery
