Created with Purpose...

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

This scripture spoke to me today.

The definition of handiwork is “the result of work done by hand.”

I recently picked up sewing. I started to make little fabric flowers for use on headbands and accessories.  When I make those small creations, I spend time on them. I’m purposeful with exactly how I want each piece of fabric to fall and I cut away any unwanted or unruly strings and fly-aways. I want it to be just right. When I’m done, even though I’m a beginner, I feel so proud. The work of my hands is complete. My fingerprints are secretly all over it and I’m happy to say, “I did that!”

I’m humbled at the thought of being God’s handiwork. He knit me together in my mother’s womb. The potter continues to intricately mold me through each season in life, taking me from glory to glory. And the most incredible thing is, I bear his fingerprints… and so do you! We were created in Christ Jesus, not by chance, not by accident, but on purpose.

That one sentence in Ephesians 2:10 is packed with so much powerful truth; I could just sit in it all day. We serve an intentional God. He doesn’t skip over the details. He doesn’t do things half-heartedly. He doesn’t wait until the last minute. He sets out His plans far in advance.

Before anyone ever knew your name, He did. His eyes saw your unformed body in your mother's womb. All the days ordained for you were written in His book before any one of them came to be (Psalm 139:16). Before your mom held you for the first time, God had already prepared a purpose for you. You're purpose is not "small" compared to the others. It's not any less significant. It's incredibly grand and hand crafted just for you.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, Plans to give you a hope and a future”- Jeremiah 29:11. Maybe you've heard this verse a thousand times before, but I strongly believe it is noteworthy.  Imagine God himself arranging, developing and assembling specific plans just for youYou are that meaningful to Him

Today, Precious Workmanship of God, will you choose to rest in the fact that He’s already got it all figured out, so you don’t have to? Seek His face and the rest will fall into place.

Resting in Truth,

Monique Zackery

  1. Thank you for this reminder, Monique. Unfortunately we tend to make comparisons. It's not godly, nor is it healthy. The Lord God has made each individual unique. Each individual has a different path. We must not put a value on this path, it's just different. Thank you for this blog. I have to constantly remind myself not to worry, not to be afraid. Although I don't see it, He is guiding. I don't necessarily "feel lead" by His hand, but, nevertheless, He is doing it. We must be obedient. You and CZ are a living example of this.
