It's December 1st!

Wow! I can't believe it's already december 1st! CONFESSION: This is my favorite season! It's the end of the year and the beginning of that month when we all focus on To Do lists, and Christmas spending. {I love checking off a good To Do list. It makes me feel accomplished. =)} Of course it has its pros and cons. We wait in miles of traffic, we stand in long lines and we stay up late wrapping presents. But I don't mind that so much. It's all part of the excitement. Some sit at the crafting table creating special tokens to place in the hands of loved ones. We bend over the stove, cooking up warm meals and the scent of the holidays fill the air. We light up the tree and adorn it with beauty. We open those Christmas bins that only see the light of day 1/12th of the year. We hang garlands and mistletoe and listen to familiar carols in the process. And though each of those things are fine, they don't truly represent the reason for the season. So before we get caught in the hustle and bustle of this month, let us meditate on the most important gift humanity has ever received.

"For to us a child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." - Isaiah 9:6

Praying that your life is filled with His counsel, that your heart is comforted by your Heavenly Daddy and that your mind is covered with His peace that passes understanding--this month and always.

Happy December!

  2. Thank you for the sweet words on my blog!

Christmas is also my favorite season & I feel great crossing off lists, too! :) It's great to have those reminders out there to keep the focus on the real reason we're celebrating!

It's great to "meet" you and I look forward to following your blog.

  4. Yes, I find so much joy in those words, counselor, Prince of Peace, that were said so long before our LOrds birth, how glorious it would have been to be one of the shepherds that actually saw the Star and believed!

  5. So true! I wonder what it must have been like for Mary to hold the Savior in her arms! What did it feel like for the shepherds to see His face. But one day we will all see Him face to face. :)

  7. This too is my favorite time of the year. My wonderful husband was born Christmas eve, my Savior was born Christmas day and my wedding anniversary falls two days later. And to top it all off, my husband's company shuts down (completely) the last two weeks of the year so we rest.

I just love this season :).

  8. Fawn, I saw on a post of yours that you and the hubby don't exchange gifts and that you just rest! That's super cool. I've done "no gifts" Christmas with my family. But my hubby's love language is gift giving so, we can't exclude that between us. He lights up when I put something under the tree with his name on it and I love to see his smile. :)

Thanks for stopping by here and for all your marriage inspiration.

  9. Oh, I totally understand. Neither of have gift giving as a love language so that certainly made the decision not to exchange gifts quite simple.

On another note, do you have a Facebook page for your blog? I didn't see one here and I'd like to become a fan :).
